So, how do you get people to your website? Well there are two types of traffic. Free traffic and paid traffic.
If you’re just starting out then I would advise using the free methods. I would suggest using the free method that I’m about to tell you about until your traffic starts to gather momentum.
Once you start to set this up, the traffic will keep coming in and you won’t be able to stop it even if you wanted to. This is known as foundational traffic. You are building the foundations to your online business.
Now to do this there is work to be done, but don’t panic as it is not hard work and won’t take up too much of your time. You can easily do this for a few hours each week in your spare time.
The method I’m talking about here is article marketing. If you are not familiar with article marketing you may be thinking that you have to sit down and write articles. Well yes there will be some writing involved but don’t worry as you don’t have to write anything if you really don’t want to.
You can outsource the work but I’ll cover that in a moment.
So, article marketing works like this: You write an article and give people permission to use your article on their own websites. At the end of each article you have a link to your own blog or website. So if 10 people decide to use your article on their website then the traffic to each of these sites will see your article and click to view your site if they wish. And this is free traffic!
Now imagine if you had 10 articles. Say 10 people per article added them to their sites. That would be 100 websites that your articles are displayed for people to read. Imagine all the free traffic coming to your site or blog then! Can you see the potential here?
Now imagine if you had 200 articles with 20 people per article! Well I’ll let you work that one out for yourself, but I’m sure by now you can see how beneficial this is to your online business. If you’re thinking that you can’t or don’t want to write articles then you can outsource this work cheaply.
You can go to Elance.com where you can find writers that will write articles for you. You just tell them your requirements and they will get the work done and at usually very low cost. I would recommend having a go yourself though as even if you just wrote one a month at least you will gain some experience and you will find that it gets easier.
Where to submit your articles
To start with I would recommend two places to submit your articles.
EzineArticles.com
GoArticles.com
You can submit your articles to these two sites to start with until you start to build up your traffic and make sales. Then you can reinvest some of the money you’ve made to a site where they will submit your articles for you to lots of different article sites.
Now this free method will take you a little longer to build up traffic in comparison to paid methods. But I suggest you do this first as this is the foundation of your online business. Remember, this traffic will come in all the time and you won’t be able to stop it if you tried.
With the paid methods the traffic stops as soon as you stop paying. You can move onto paid traffic once the foundational traffic is in place and you‘ve started to make sales.
If you decide to write your own articles and are new to it, try to aim for one article every couple of weeks. You will find it gets easier and then you can try 1 a week. Soon you’ll by writing 2 a week in no time. If you can get to that stage then that would be 104 articles in a year! All of these bringing in lots of traffic to your site!
So your task for this week is to write an article. Try and get it finished in a week or two and then submit it to the article sites mentioned earlier.
And very importantly, have fun!
